Anti-wrinkle injection treatments and dermal fillers are now more than ever a popular ‘go to’ anti-aging treatment for instant effective results. But, what is the difference between the two treatments and what is right for you?
Whats the difference between Botox & Fillers?
The intention with both treatments is the same, in that they used in cosmetic medicine to reduce the signs of ageing. However, they both work in very different ways, but can compliment each other nicely.
Anti-wrinkle/Botox
It is the muscles of the face that dictate our expressions, like smiling or frowning. Over time this caused fine lines and creases in our skin. The rate of this is dictated by many other factors like, free radical damage, sun exposure, nutrition/hydration, genetic predisposition, drugs and so on...
Botox works by relaxing and temporarily reduce the tone of our the muscles, to prevent further skin creasing. This helps to give a smooth skin appearance and prevent lines from forming. Subtle Botox should be given to insure that facial expressions or not.
Dermal Fillers
Along with fine lines and wrinkles, as we age we lose natural volume under the skin. For some, this can result in a gaunt appearance. Dermal fillers are used very effectively to dramatically reduce fine lines and wrinkles at the sane time as restoring volume loss, such as around tear troughs, cheeks & lips.
Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid which is a natural moisturiser. This can then safely plump up the skin. Fillers last anywhere from 6-18 months depending on the area being treated.
