TOPICAL FINASTERIDE AND 10% MINOXIDIL TREATMENT FOR HAIR LOSS
Oral finasteride (Propecia®) is a commonly used drug-based treatment for hair loss, however, it can be associated with significant and unfortunate side effects. Common side effects associated with this form of medication can be - reduced libido, sexual dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, and even male based breast cancer.
Topical finasteride is however as a relatively NEW and exciting option that is often used in conjunction with other treatments like platelet rich plasma (PRP), but with much fewer side effects as it is applied with topical application, so avoids the systemic side effects as with oral application. Furthermore, topical finasteride has clinically proven, evidence-based scientific data to show similar therapeutic benefits when compared with standard oral finasteride.
In topical form - this unique hair loss treatment is a combination of Finasteride and 10% Minoxidil, which have been shown to increase the overall efficacy in reducing hair follicle miniaturisation, maximising hair growth, in addition to lowering the side effects which are commonly associated with oral finasteride.
People suffering from hair loss ideally want the effects of reduced DHT, but only in the affected area which is the scalp. Research shows potential for achieving this.
This recent 2022 randomised, double-blind, double dummy, parallel-group, 24-week study was conducted at 45 sites in Europe, showing the efficacy and safety were evaluated for topical finasteride.
A study in 2009 comparing the therapeutic effects of finasteride gel and tablet in treatment of the androgenetic alopecia found that the results identified that the therapeutic effects of both finasteride gel and finasteride tablet were relatively similar to each other. Furthermore, this study in 2009 carried out a 16-month trial on 52 patients with using a 0.005% finasteride solution, and found that - both hair regrowth and balding areas reduction, was encouraging, with the absence of either any evidence of percutaneous absorption of finasteride or local/systemic untoward effects.
Topical Finasteride Evidence
Topical finasteride is becoming a very popular treatment, particularly when used in combination with regenerative forms of treatment like PRP Therapy.
Below are some recent studies that look into the scientific evidence and the early success of topical finasteride when used to treat hair loss.

We have different program options available with clinic visits and ongoing daily treatment. Options may include Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP/PRF) and mesotherapy.
Although side effects are very low, in any case strict attention to side effects should be adopted and valued. It is therefore of extreme importance that all individuals interested in this treatment fully understand any associated side effects. It is the patient's responsibility to make sure they fully understand and appreciate any associated side effects, prior to undergoing treatment.
Please note: If you are interested in our Topical Dutasteride Mesotherapy, this is part of a treatment process only. We unfortunately, NO LONGER sell and distribute this product.
Our Dutasteride Mesotherapy program consists of regular clinic visits (once every 4-6 weeks) with ongoing daily treatment of topical application.
We have 2 options put in place for this:
1) Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP/PRF) with topical finasteride mesotherapy treatment (superficial injections) 4-6 weeks, with a continued home plan daily of topical application of topical finasteride (1ml/day).
2) Just topical finasteride mesotherapy treatment (superficial injections) 4-6 weeks, with a continued home plan daily of topical application of topical finasteride (1ml/day).
It is recommended to have PRP/PFR. This is very successful as it naturally and biologically releases growth factors and stimulates what is known as angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels).
Monthly treatment visits are 3–6 months and then get spread out accordingly.
